We’re making Essex a place where innovation brings prosperity. And the Communications and Marketing team is spreading the word. Shouldn’t you be breaking new ground here as well?
Communications and Marketing at Essex County Council focuses on five key areas. The multi-award winning team manages all internal and external communications, and helps build the organisation’s reputation with audiences and stakeholders. Collaboration is central to the way they work with partners across public services and the business community, they manage campaigns designed to help deliver our strategic priorities and our vision. It’s innovation at its best.
It makes for great variation, opportunities to improve my abilities and understanding, and I’m never frustrated.
Phillip, Senior Communications Officer
What were your first impressions?
I’ve been at Essex County Council for a few months now, having moved from a smaller team at a local borough council. The differences were immediately apparent; the size of the team and the speed at which things happen here are much greater. I was able to adjust quickly and was made to feel very welcome.
What’s the work culture like?
Because I’m in a team made up of communications people who work for different areas of the Council – and I work with five very varied services – I dip in and out of teams, departments, even buildings.
And how does that benefit you?
It makes for great variation, opportunities to improve my abilities and understanding, and I’m never frustrated. Stuck on a project and can’t think how to further it? Set it aside, work on something entirely different for a while, and come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes. Still stuck? There’s a team of communications specialists all around me with fresh ideas who are keen to help.
