Exact work location: Expectation to attend the Maldon District Council offices at least twice a week for collaborative working, business needs, training, and staff development. Ability to make adhoc site visits within the Maldon District is also a requirement of this role.

Salary: £26,915 - £29,662 per annum, pro rata if part time. 

Contract type: Permanent full time (37 hours per week)

Please note that we are happy to consider candidates on a part time basis and for the right person can offer between 15 and 37 hours per week, which can be worked over an agreed pattern.

The Role

As one of our experienced Planning Caseworkers at Maldon District Council, you would take responsibility for your assigned caseload, prepare reports and make recommendations on planning applications and on other planning related matters. You would prepare appeal statements for decision/clearance with Senior Officers.

In addition, these roles are expected to act as a point of contact between Council Members and the service in relation to Development Management issues and respond to service-related requests, complaints. You will provide support as required within planning and other internal teams and guide applicants through the planning process to include the delivery of robust, timely and comprehensive pre-application advice and householder duty planning service.

A methodical and through approach to routine tasks and when dealing with detailed work are essential to success in these roles as well as the ability to use own initiative, meet short deadlines and commitment to the provision of a high-quality service to customers.

You must be able to communicate effectively and be confident to deliver both informal and formal presentations to a range of levels. You will be proficient in using own initiative within the role and being able to prioritise effectively, managing workload and presenting arguments clearly and persuasively.

The Experience You Will Bring

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and can work under pressure with minimal supervision. You would need to have a positive, solution-finding approach to work whilst achieving targets and meeting deadlines and be able to demonstrate being a team player. You will ideally be working towards degree level or equivalent professional qualification in Town Planning or have relevant experience in this subject area.
