Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Calvern Care to recruit Support Workers for their home care service based in Chelmsford.

The shift patterns vary with both full time and part time hours available and will require day, evening and weekend working. Shift times can be discussed at interview stage.

*Please note drivers will have mileage reimbursed at a rate of £0.30 per mile.

Calvern Care Ltd was established in 2001 and remains an independent, family-owned company serving individuals living in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas. At Calvern Care they provide domiciliary services to a wide variety of individuals with dementia, complex care needs, and physical disabilities. Their aim has always been to provide the highest standard of personal care and support to those living within the community. Calvern Care offer a personalised and comprehensive service that enables us to plan and tailor care to meet an individual’s needs.

Care Practitioners must be able to communicate successfully with service users to understand their needs and requirements. Workers must also be able to communicate with other stakeholders such as family, friends, and other health care professionals. As a care practitioner, you will provide a high standard of care and support to clients, promoting their independence and ensuring they have the best quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with personal care
  • Assisting with medication
  • Domestic services: Bed making, laundry and cleaning duties
  • Helping clients plan their meals and assist with preparing food
  • Shopping and collecting prescriptions
  • Assisting clients with social and physical activities
  • Using manual handling equipment when and as instructed
  • Ensuring all needs are met as outlined in each service users individual care plan

Please note as this is a home care role, applicants will need to have a full driver’s licence and access to their own vehicle.

As part of employment should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
