Applications are open for cohort 8 of the Step Up to Social Work course.
What is Step up to Social Work?
This is a 14-month post graduate, full time qualifying programme aimed at recruiting people to work with children, young people and families.
This is fully funded by the Department of Education, and you will receive a bursary of £19,833.
The following local authorities will run the course in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University from the Cambridge campus;
- Cambridgeshire County Council
- Essex County Council
- Norfolk County Council
- Peterborough City Council
- Southend-On-Sea City Council
- Suffolk County Council
- Thurrock Council
The course starts in January 2024 and finishes in March 2025.
Application and Entry requirements
Application is not through the usual university route. You will need to apply using the Department for Education website:
Applications can be made via this link (please do not apply on the Essex County Council website)
- You will need a minimum of 2:2 level 6 degree qualification
- GCSE’s in English/English language and mathematics at grade 4 (C) or above (or an approved equivalent)
- 6 months full time (or equivalent) direct experience, either in a paid or voluntary capacity, of working with vulnerable children, young people and/or families, carers or vulnerable adults
