Service Manager Child Protection

Permanent, Full Time

£58,727 to £66,963 per annum

Location: Countywide

Working Style: Anywhere worker

Closing Date: Sunday 30th January 2022

We are one of the most effective and progressive Children and Families service in the country.

Our vision is to support families through strengths and relationship based social work to parent children in ways that keep them safe and enhance their development and well-being, alongside investing in effective early help. We are building a culture of positive support for families that is both embedded and sustainable for the long term. Essex County Council achieved an OUTSTANDING rating in its last Ofsted inspection.

Essex is a large county, with a population of 1.4 million spread across many different urban, rural and coastal communities. We have divided the county into four quadrants that are the right size for us to offer cohesive, joined up services without being overstretched geographically.

The role

This post is based in Chelmsford but has county-wide responsibilities and a high profile across the Council as the Service Manager is the departmental lead in relation to child protection practice, is responsible for the child protection conferencing service, and offers advice and guidance in relation to child protection and safeguarding across the council and to our multi-agency partners.

You will have a sound working knowledge and experience of service delivery within Children’s Social Care and have high professional standards, which are both proven and demonstratable.

You will be forward thinking and creative in respect of our work with children and their families. You will also embrace and demonstrate all core leadership behaviours which we expect across the council and in particular, a real sense of making a difference to the lives of children and young people.

We place a high priority on ensuring that we fully involve children, young people and their families, and that we listen and act upon their feedback to us.

This is a challenging role, but one where you will receive both support and the opportunities to develop further.

Closing Date: Sunday 30th January 2022

Interviews are planned to take place on Tuesday 8th February 2022 at County Hall, Chelmsford
