The Role:

Business Area: Finance and Technology

The Procurement Support Officer will be working as part of the Procurement Team, which is responsible for spending over £1bn per year on goods and services. This team also manage the larger and most complex contracts – this could be anything from residential care homes to stationary to major road improvements


  • Working within the Domiciliary Care Procurement Team (care at home)
  • Liaise with supplier regarding day to day queries, including support with clarifications during a tender
  • Support with drafting and submitting communications to suppliers via the ECC provider information hub
  • Support with setting up contracts and contact changes
  • Analyse usage and spend information to help inform future decision making
  • Issuing contract compliance audit requests to suppliers and ensuring returns are received within set timescales
  • Collating returns of information and securely storing the data – highlighting any key concerns immediately
  • Checking that all documents are received, recording results in Excel and reviewing the quality of the returns
  • Emailing suppliers to ask for further information if required
  • Preparation of reports to the Contract Manager – identifying key areas
  • Planning the annual audit schedule
  • Liaising with operations and safeguarding teams to identify suppliers of concern
  • Creation of a dashboard to report to senior management and compare different suppliers
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to the audit process
  • Speaking to suppliers for to gain their feedback of the audit process

Required Skills and Experience

  • Good level of computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must meet eligibility criteria set out by the DWP:
  • Aged between 16-24 years old
  • Receiving Universal Credits
  • You must also make your Work Coach aware of your interest in the opportunity.
  • Have a desire to succeed and a willingness to learn new skills and demonstrate a good work ethic.
  • Ability to deliver duties, as required; being well organised, reliable, and able to meet deadlines, whilst appropriately handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as an ability to build and establish relationships, a friendly approach.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team, is helpful but not essential.
  • A positive, proactive can-do attitude is a must.
