The Role:

Essex Outdoors Mersea has a comprehensive range of facilities including modern toilet and shower blocks with dedicated amenities for disabled users and families, a self-contained training and conference suite for up to 40 people, dining rooms, a laundry room, a large well-equipped main hall and even a big screen cinema room!

The General Assistant will support the Facilities team in ensuring that the site, facilities and accommodation at this large residential centre are maintained to a high standard, in readiness for use by our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer service, interacting with members of the public and providing information.
  • Litter picking & emptying bins.
  • Helping in cafés / shops.
  • Basic maintenance.
  • Unlocking and locking gates to Park.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Applicants must complete an enhanced DBS check prior to employment.
  • Must meet eligibility criteria set out by the DWP:
    • Aged between 16-24 years old
    • Receiving Universal Credits
    • You must also make your Work Coach aware of your interest in the opportunity.
  • Have a desire to succeed and a willingness to learn new skills and demonstrate a good work ethic.
  • Ability to deliver duties, as required; being well organised, reliable, and able to meet deadlines, whilst appropriately handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as an ability to build and establish relationships, a friendly approach.
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team, is helpful but not essential.
  • A positive, proactive can-do attitude is a must.
