Community Support Worker
Fixed Term, Full Time
£21,057 to £27,391 per annum
This is a full time, fixed term role until the 31 March 2022.
About the Role
Working to support adults, and their families, who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you’ll maximise their potential to live independently.
You will assess social care needs using a person centred and strengths based approach and contribute to the development of care and support plans. The role will require you to manage a caseload, including assessment of risk through direct work, within a quality assurance process. A focus of the role will be to ensure vulnerable people are safeguarded in line with ECC’s statutory obligations.
We currently have several opportunities for Community Support Workers , within our West Essex area.
West Essex is unique as it borders London boroughs, Hertfordshire , Cambridgeshire and has close links to NHS partners in the area. This offers the opportunity for those joining us in West Essex to be involved in initiatives that run across authorities and organisations. With close proximity to bordering counties and North East London the area is ideal for those that want to commute into Essex.

You’ll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults and their families in times of challenge and crisis. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity-based work with adults and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.
This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential. However, given the current pandemic Essex County Council continues to review its ways of working during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We continue to work within adult social care with a focus on “digital first”, where the default position is, where possible, for our staff to work from home (this is continuously reviewed). In line with government legislation, all colleagues who work in a CQC registered care home or will need to attend such a setting as part of their role must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This role has been deemed in scope of this legislation and therefore to be considered for the role you must confirm on application you are fully vaccinated or will be fully vaccinated by November 11th 2021, or that you are exempt. Evidence of vaccination or exemption will be required as part of the pre-employment checks Essex County Council will undertake on you. As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service. The DBS update service ensures all registered DBS certificates are kept up to date and allows authorised parties to view the status of your certificate.
