Essex County Council are working to build a Sessional/Bank workforce within our AMHP service.

This role would support the AMHP service in times of high demand. This will incorporate both Weekday, Evening and Weekend working. Specific work patterns will be discussed at interview.

The Approved Mental Health Practitioner Service has a unique position in ensuring compliance with the statutory functions imposed upon the Local Authority by the Mental Health Act. As the service has recently returned to the management of ECC you will be part of a fast paced, evolving and supportive team.

About You

To apply you should be Educated to degree level (Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS) or equivalent and a qualified Approved Mental Health Practitioner.

You’ll also require Knowledge of relevant legislation including~: Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and its interface with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, Human Rights Act 1998 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Case law and relevant codes of practice. The ability to interpret this legislation and apply it to practice while adhering to the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
